Hello Everyone,
How are you? As we all begin our summer activities, I just wanted to let you know about a new blog series in rhetoric and composition on the Conference on College Composition and Communication webpage that will begin on 5/29 (in about 2 weeks). The CCCC Committee on Diversity (I'm the Chair) will host a bi-weekly schedule of guest blog postings in a series called, "CCCC Conversations on Diversity" at: http://cccc-blog.blogspot.com/.
The editors of this collection ask for chapter proposals that consider issues of race and racism in college writing assessments. For instance, can our current theories and practices of writing assessment serve the changing face of higher education? Are the methods that we currently use really the best ones to assess the literacies of our diverse students? What about new technologies of assessment such as machine scoring and directed self-placement (DSP)?
