Visiting Assistant Professor of Professional Writing, University of New Orleans
University of New Orleans, Department of English and Foreign Languages, Visiting Assistant Professor of Professional Writing, to begin fall 2019 (two-year appointment with the opportunity of renewal for an additional two years). Seeking applicants with expertise in a variety of sub-fields of professional writing, including but not limited to corporate and nonprofit writing, technical writing and editing, marketing and public relations, and commercial writing. Desirable areas of skill and knowledge include digital literacy and rhetoric and digital pedagogy. We particularly seek candidates with expertise in integrating technology into the physical and virtual classroom in innovative ways. Industry experience is also desired. Teaching experience in online and onsite venues and a promising research agenda are required. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in the English major’s concentration in Journalism and Professional Writing and graduate courses in the Professional Writing concentration of the online and onsite M.A. programs, as well as courses in First-Year Writing. The successful candidate will also be responsible for curriculum development, creating online courses, concentrations, and certificate options in professional writing at the undergraduate and graduate level. Ph.D. in English, Rhetoric, Professional Writing or related field required; publications strongly desirable. Three-course load per semester; salary competitive.
