Assistant Professor of English in Technical and Professional Writing

The University of South Carolina Upstate is seeking committed faculty who desire a career that balances excellent teaching with outstanding scholarship and service. The position is a 9-month tenure-track appointment to teach on the Spartanburg and/or Greenville campuses. Department faculty normally teach four courses each semester, two first-year composition courses and two upper-division courses in their area of specialization. For this position, upper division teaching is selected from the following courses: professional writing, advanced professional writing, technical writing, grant writing, text editing, and writing and computers Required Qualifications A Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition or English with appropriate academic emphasis in rhetoric and composition is required by August 2008. ABDs will be considered but must show evidence of degree completion prior to appointment. Preference is given to candidates who can demonstrate evidence of successful undergraduate teaching and potential for successful scholarship and publication. The position begins on August 16, 2008.
