WRITING ACROSS THE CURRICULUM DIRECTOR Auburn University Montgomery (AUM) seeks an experienced teacher/administrator to direct its new Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) initiative. The Director will report to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and have the primary responsibility of developing and administering the new program. This will include determining and implementing Writing Intensive standards for courses and directing instructor training.

The position is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty appointment in the appropriate academic department with a reduced teaching load in order to develop and direct the new WAC program. Faculty rank will be dependent upon the applicant’s record in teaching, scholarship, and service. The position requires a doctoral degree with experience in the area of writing initiatives. In addition to directing the WAC program, there will be the continued opportunity and expectation for teaching, scholarship, and service.

The successful candidate will have significant experience with teaching writing-intensive courses and writing program administration as well as strong interpersonal and organizational communication skills. AUM seeks candidates who combine practical approaches to teaching writing with an emphasis on basic writing skills and who will be sensitive to the varying writing needs within different disciplines.

The position begins May 2009. Salary is commensurate with experience.
