Instructor/Assistant Professor of Professional Writing, One-Year Contract (Non-Tenure Track)
Summary of Duties
The Marywood University English Department seeks an Instructor/Assistant Professor in Professional Writing for a full-time (nine-month), per annum appointment beginning August 2016. There is a possibility of renewal.
Responsibilities include teaching eight undergraduate courses each year, with primary focus on professional writing and rhetoric. Particularly desirable sub-specialties include business writing, technical writing, science writing, digital writing, or related areas that support a new writing major. First year composition & rhetoric will also be part of the teaching load. Student advisement and participation in university, professional, and community service are expected. Evidence of continuing research is also desirable.
Marywood University is a comprehensive Catholic university sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, located in northeastern Pennsylvania.
- Educational: Qualified candidates will possess a Master’s or ABD (Instructor) or Ph.D. (Assistant Professor) in Composition & Rhetoric or a related field with a focus on professional writing.
- Work Experience: Prior college teaching experience is required.
