Assistant Director of Writing Program

This is a full-time academic-year (9-month) non-tenure track position with a start date of September 1, 2018. The position is renewable and requires a minimal summer commitment.

Asst/Assoc Professor of English and Director of Core Writing at Fairfield University

Fairfield University invites applications for a tenure-track Advanced Assistant or Associate Professor of English and Director of Core Writing (WPA).  Based in the Department of English, the Director is expected to play an exciting role in the development and implementation of a Writing Across the Curriculum Program, pending faculty approval of a proposed general education curriculum revision.  The Director will oversee the English Department’s Core writing courses, and work in partnership with the University’s Center for Academic Excellenc

Associate Professor of Rhetoric and Composition (Assessment and/or Writing Across the Curriculum)

The Spelman College English Department invites applications for a tenured position at the rank of Associate Professor with a concentration in Rhetoric/Composition to direct the Comprehensive Writing Program, beginning August 2016, job code TF0700. Candidates should be able to teach in the general education core, and in the English major and Writing minor. Directing the CWP will be a rotating position.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Rhetoric/Composition or related field with a specialization in Assessment and/or Writing across the Curriculum.

WPA Position at University of Tennessee, Chattanooga

Director of Composition

The University of Tennessee-Chattanooga Department of English seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Rhetoric/Composition to serve as the Director of Composition starting in Fall 2016.

Required qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in English, Rhetoric, Composition, Writing Studies, or related field.
  • At least two years administrative experience with writing programs.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching composition-related courses.

University of Vermont: Director of Writing and Information Literacy, Associate Professor

The University of Vermont’s Department of English invites applications for a tenured, full-time Associate Professor to serve as the Director of the campus’ newly-established Foundational Writing and Information Literacy Program. The appointment begins in Fall 2014. The Director will be responsible for shaping the implementation of UVM’s first campus-wide first-year writing requirement, which draws on introductory composition courses in English as well as first-year seminars in every department in the College of Arts and Sciences and in the Honors College.

WPA-GO 2014 Graduate Committee Election

In July 2014, the WPA-GO Graduate Committee (GC) will say goodbye to members Jessica Nastal, Kathryn Trauth Taylor, Carolyn Wisniewski, & Courtney Adams Wooten. In order to maintain the 7-person GC as outlined in the WPA-GO Bylaws, we will elect 4 new GC members. Voting will take place for 2 weeks (January 16-31), & results will be announced in early February.

Call for Applications: 2014 CCCC Graduate Student Travel Grants

The Writing Program Administrators Graduate Student Organization (WPA-GO) & the Council of Writing Program Administrators (CWPA) are pleased to offer at least six travel grants of $100 each (plus admission to the CWPA Breakfast at CCCC) to current graduate students presenting at or in association with the 2014 Conference on College Composition & Communication, to be held March 19-22 in Indianapolis, IN.
