2020 CWPA Awards

The Council of Writing Program Administrators is pleased to announce this year’s award recipients. Ordinarily, these awards would be announced at our annual conference in July, but since COVID-19 has made it necessary to postpone the conference until next year, we are announcing them this way. We encourage you to read these excellent works! Congratulations to this year’s award recipients, and congratulations to all the nominees as well.

 

Best Book Award:

Kenneth Bruffee Award:

“Reclaiming Writing Placement,” by Heidi Estrem, Dawn Shepherd, and Samantha Sturman, appearing in WPA Journal 42(1).

 

Outstanding Scholarship Award:

“Rethinking SETs: Retuning Student Evaluations of Teaching for Student Agency,” by Brian Ray, Jacob Babb, and Courtney Adams Wooten, appearing in Composition Studies 46(1).

 

Graduate Research Award:

“Authenticity, Self-Compassion, and Self-Determination Theory: A Response to Power Inequities in College Writing Programs,” by Stacey Cochran, Sydney Sullivan, Michelle Silvers, Sally F. Benson, and Nick Halsey. This is, as yet, unpublished, but look forward to a presentation at CWPA 2021.
