WPA Outcomes Statement Revision Task Force

Dear Members,
On behalf of CWPA Executive Board, it is my pleasure to announce the WPA Outcomes Statement 4.0 Revision Task Force (TF).

Task Force Charges

Members of the WPA OS 4.0 Revision Task Force are tasked with the following:

  1. Revising the current WPA OS 3.0 to be informed by a) recent scholarship in the field of Writing Studies, b) principles of social justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging1, c) recent technological, social, and cultural changes that affect college students in first-year writing courses and beyond. 

  2. Collecting feedback on the new OS draft from writing program administrators (WPAs) at a wide range of institutions.

  3. Documenting the process (e.g., resources, discussions, rationales) to be part of the history of that document.

  4. Submitting the final revision to CWPA Executive Board for discussion and approval.

  5. Offering in-person and virtual professional development workshops to WPAs to facilitate the use of the new OS in their local contexts.

Please be cognizant of the evolving political restrictions in many states around the use of certain language and terms. The new OS should be inclusive in terms of who can use it.
