June 2025 Update

A Monthly Update for Members

Dear CWPA members,

I am delighted to share that we have some new leadership joining our executive board! Please join me in welcoming the incoming Vice President, Dr. David Green and the incoming WPA-GO representative, Taylor Dickson. Thank you for lending your time and talents to CWPA, David and Taylor! I look forward to working with each of you!

On the topic of leadership, Jacob Babb offers this exciting update about the incoming editors of WPA Journal

On behalf of the Publications Committee, I am pleased to share that Michael J. Faris and Callie F. Kostelich are the incoming editors of WPA: Writing Program Administration. With their combined editorial and administrative experience, Michael and Callie are going to make excellent co-editors. They will also be joined by Annika Konrad as the book review editor. The incoming editors are already working with the current editorial team to prepare to assume full editorial responsibility for the journal next year. CWPA members should know that the journal will continue to be in highly capable hands.

Thank you, Jacob, for chairing the search, and thank you Michael, Callie, and Annika for your leadership and service!

Three quick action items:

  1. CWPA’s online conference, “Chairs, Coordinators, Directors, Leads, WPAs: The Shifting Nature of WPA Work,” is happening July 10-11, and registration is open now! It promises to be a gathering that is full of timely information, friendly colleagues, and cool CWPA swag if you register by June 25! Please register today and share with your colleagues!
  2. We are seeking your feedback about our virtual professional development workshops this year, and looking for topics to cover next year! The survey is 10 questions long and will take less than 5 minutes to complete! Please fill this out and help us serve you better: https://iu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5tkIe7FFmYX8ENo
  3. Miranda L. Egger, Director of Composition at the University of Colorado at Denver, is seeking input from WPAs about how they are navigating two major challenges: Generative AI and the political divisiveness/federal attack on higher education. Her study has IRB Exempt status, and her survey is live. She will report on findings in a forthcoming book chapter. Responses requested by June 30. Please participate and share with WPAs in your circle: https://ucdenver.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bvaqX1BSI86Uz1s

I hope you each are enjoying some respite and relaxation during these longer, warmer days

Sending all my best,
Kelly
