Advanced Assistant or Associate Professor

The Department of English at the State University of New York at Buffalo seeks an advanced assistant or associate level professor for a position in Rhetoric and Composition to begin in Fall 2009. Eventually the successful candidate will serve as Director of the Composition Program and Teaching Fellows. We welcome candidates with fresh perspectives on the theory and practice of rhetoric and composition, a record of teaching excellence, experience in writing program administration, and evidence of innovative research and publication in the field. As a Research 1 university located near an urban center, UB has a diverse student body, including 15% international students. Our student population benefits from active ESL and EOP programs, computer writing labs, a growing writing center, and a dynamic English department with strong programs in poetics, psychoanalysis, and American literature. The university offers a Humanities Institute, a Gender Institute, and the Baldy Center for Law and Social Policy, as well as an excellent library and research support. Qualifications may include a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition; a strong record of scholarship in the field; experience in program administration, especially in a research-oriented university setting; T.A. preparation, and graduate-level teaching; familiarity with international education, TESOL, and digital literacies.
