Associate Professor of English and Director of First-Year Composition
The English Department at Clemson University invites applications for a tenured position as Associate Professor in Rhetoric and Composition to direct Clemsonâ€™s First-Year Composition program. Candidates should have an established scholarly record and experience directing an undergraduate writing program. Candidates with research and teaching experience in graduate programs are particularly encouraged to apply. This position is an excellent opportunity for a WPA to join a department and university that is nationally recognized for its commitment to the teaching of writing and innovative pedagogy.
Clemson, a selective public university, has a required first-year writing course with an associated lab. The Director of First-Year Composition designs and manages the program and mentors graduate teaching assistants associated with the first year writing course. The Director of First-Year Composition also collaborates with Clemsonâ€™s Pearce Center for Professional Communication, the Ph.D. in Rhetorics, Communication, and Information Design (RCID) program, the MA in Professional Communication (MAPC) program, the MA in Literature program, the Advanced Writing program, and our undergraduate emphasis in Writing and Publication Studies.
