Assistant Professor of Writing--Woodbury University

Assistant Professor of Writing

Woodbury University’s Institute of Transdisciplinary Studies invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position beginning fall of 2014 in the Writing Department. Woodbury’s approximately 1,600 undergraduate and graduate students enroll in the School of Architecture; the School of Business; the School of Media, Culture & Design; and the Institute of Transdisciplinary Studies. The Writing Department is part of the Institute.
The department seeks candidates who are interested in teaching a range of courses in first-year composition (FYC) and in technical and professional writing. In general, an ideal candidate will have expertise in assessment, composition theory, sociolinguistics, and writing program administration. Depending on the candidate’s interests and background, the candidate may contribute to the development of FYC courses, the Writing Center, an ESL program, and writing across the curriculum/writing in the disciplines (WAC/WID) initiatives—all part of the Writing Department. In particular, the successful candidate will contribute to the possible development of a technical/professional writing major as well as envisioning multimodal composition as part of FYC and WAC/WID initiatives. Additionally, the successful candidate may have leadership and administrative opportunities within the department, for which additional compensation may be given.
